A group of Black farmers have reached a $1.25 billion settlement with the US Department of Agriculture over a civil rights case dating back to 1990’s  according to the Wall Street Journal.

It says the farmers claimed they had been systematically denied loans due to discrimination. And that the USDA intentionally  delayed alloted loans based on race causing farmers to run out of time to plant that season’s crop making it difficult to repay other debts.
