But the country also says it will also remain on special alert because of ongoing joint military drills conducted by South Korea and America according to the Associated Press.
AP also says North Korea will reinstate South Korean run tours to its Diamond Mountain resort and northern city of Kaesong. And families seperated by the border will be allowed to reunite.
Last year South Korea and North Korea suspended all tours after a South Korean tourist was shot to death on Diamond Mountain according to AP.
It says South Korea halted all tours to the mountain resort after North Korea rejected the call for a joint investigation citing that the tourist had entered a military zone.
And that North Korea stopped all tours to Kaesong late last year over rising tensions with South Korea regarding the policies of South Korea’s leader. President Lee Myung-bak is known to take a harder political stance regarding North Korea’s alleged breach to its commitment on nuclear disarmament.
