NASA is running out of the fuel to support its deep space exploration, according to a study by the U.S. National Academy of Sciences.
The United States stopped producing the fuel Plutonium 238 over twenty years ago. And America bought its last batch of plutonium 283 from Russia.
But Russia stopped producing the nuclear weaponry by-product after the cold war.
And therefore, the US Department of Energy has announced it will restart its production of plutonium 238.
