Mexico Makes Arrest in War On Drugs

Mexican authorities have announced the arrest of a high ranking drug gang leader, according to LA Times.

They say the accused was one of Mexico’s top twenty four most wanted drug suspects. The government was offering a $2 million reward as one of  President Felipe Calderon’s recent tactics in his war against drug traffickers.

Amid this small victory, violence is ongoing on the Mexican American border.  At least 1,600 people have been murdered due to drug trafficking related crime in one border city.

And the source and funds for these weapons come from one country.

90% of the narcotic industry murder weapons are from America, according to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.

And  Mexican and Colombian traffickers are continuing to make at least $18 billion to $39 billion in the US every year, according to US law enforcement agencies.
