Surfacing Images are exposing grave violations of human rights in a Zimbabwean prison.
Those who have seen the images call the prison a death camp. They say the images of male prisoners are as horrific as those of recently freed Holocaust survivors, or of Muslims prisoners held by Serbian troops during the Bosnian war.
Footage was filmed over four months through cooperative efforts between a crew at South African Broadcasting Association (SABC) and prison officers wanting to expose the human rights abuses.
SABC has created a documentary of the conservative images they were able to gather. “Hell Hole” features the stories of several prisoners, many of whom have died since filming.
