PHARMACEUTICAL CORP LOWERS DRUG COST AFTER COUNTRY FILES COMPULSARY LICENSE

Thailand is now receiving essential HIV medication for a lowered price after attempts to turn over a mega pharmaceutical corporation refusal to lower the cost of the drug, says Médecins Sans Frontières .

It says the price of Abbott’s medication fell from close to $3000 to around $500, after the country filed a compulsory license for access to heat-stable medication lopinavir/ritonavir (kaletra, aluvia).
