World’s first Fairtrade olive oil to come from Palestine, says Fairtrade foundation. Many farmers say Fairtrade business has saved their livlihoods.

Olive trees are extremely resilent and often are the only thing that can grow in the driest areas of the West  Bank and Gaza.

15 March 2009 Update:

Israel is completing a barrier between Palestinians and the West Bank village of Naalin seperating the people from over 300 acres of olive groves
