Dozens of Ugandan Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels raided the headquarters of the Garamba National Park in northern province of Orientale in the Democratic Republic of Congo killing twenty.
The United Nations security Council member states unanimously supported recent bombings of LRA bases in the park led by Uganda, and supported by Congolese and Southern Sudanese soldiers. The December 14th bombings came after LRA leader Joseph Kony failed to sign a deal to end rebellion against the Ugandan governemnt.
The LRA was forced to flee northern Uganda after twenty year war left 2 million people displaced, and thousands dead. Since then the group has continued to raid areas in Congo, Sudan, and Central African Republic.
